My husband I have been trying to conceive for about two years now with no luck. I was on Yaz for about a year and a half and then we began trying immediately after. I am 29 and he is 30, so still fairly young, but not a lot of time to waste. I didn't know anyone personally who has dealt with infertility issues so I have had no one to talk to and my OB has not been helpful at all. I talked to my husband about what we should do next, and did some research and found this website. It is hard talking about something so personal, so it is no wonder that there is limited information available.
I decided to stop seeing my OB since I couldn't get any answers, and used a referral from this site to go see someone at RBA. The Dr. did some blood work and found that my thyroid levels were uneven although I had been on Synthroid for several months. I was prescribed a higher dosage of the thyroid medication as well as Glucophage for Insulin Resistance, which I was unaware I had. I was also advised to make an appoinment for an HCG to check my tubes, but since it is $1800 up front and there are no payment options, my husband and I decided to start saving for it and see if the meds work out the issues in the meantime. Glucophage is not a fun medicine to be on... if you have any carbs, your body rejects them and there is a lot of discomfort involved. the side effects have taken some getting used to, but if it works, the suffering is worth it.
So, now I am trying to reach the goal the Dr. set for me of being under 200 pounds... I lost 15 before my Dr. visit, then 10 more after being placed on the meds, along with the required low carb diet. I have about 30 more to lose and it is coming off slowly. So now we wait and see what happens.
Right now I am trying to focus on losing the weight and I am just trusting that it will happen when it happens and at least I am getting healthy in the process.
